Have any of you guys read this book by Reinald von Meurers ? 22 safari's 20 of them on his own through some of the toughest jungles of Africa. This is a really interesting reading book, guy has a lot of guts going many of these places by himself. It is a fairly recent book 1999 and is published by safari press.

I often see Reinald van Meurers at the Dortmund hunting show flogging his books and bull pup rifles. I think he has shot more than 20 forest elephants on these do-it-yourself trips and some SCI number 1 trophies. The problem with these third world countries is not the jungle. The jungle is a lovely place with clouds of butterflies, colorful exotic birds and chattering monkies. The scent of blossoming flowers is everywhere. Its an intoxicating place to be. The problems are the headaches and payoffs that begin at customs and continue road block to roadblock until you get to the jungle. VBR, Ted Gorsline

Yes, I wouls agree, the thought of being alone in the jungle without someone you can absolutly rely is one thing going in and out of countries where the mood changes daily is another.
