I don't know if this is the proper place for this. If not moderators please feel free to move or delete. For many years I have been a fan of Bernard Cornwell and his Richard Sharpe series.awhile back I happened to be watching PBS and discovered there had been a series based on the Sharpe novels. I missed them all. Can someone recommend the best place to buy the series on DVD? Please consider budget if you have a recommendation. Thanks in advance. Respectfully,Jerry Hoover

Jerry,1st,glad to hear that Dr. Popham is giving you the cure. As to the Sharpes series starring Sean Bean, they are usually offered in cataloges such as BBC,Acorn,PBS,etc. Along with the original series they have introduced a few new ones concerning Sharpes Indian campaign. In these catalogs the price for the series is usually around $200.00. However a few months back I found a seller (I think it was Deadalus books) that offered the set for under $50.00.It was such a deal that I bougt it for a friend. I should still have your # but P.M. me anyway with it. I will try to find that catalog. Have you read the 'Saxon Chroicles'? His series is now up to 10 + was also made into a BBC America miniseries.

I have read several of the Saxon series and while enjoyable, they do not have the panache of the Sharpe series. I did enjoy the Archer series as I like shooting my long bow, but I will never gain the skill level of the English long bow men. It ain't t the way it used to be, but it will do. Jerry Hoover

Archer series of as excellent
When I was younger I shot some 120 lbs longbows ( my max )
When you hear they shot 150+ lbs bows, it gives you pause
Wow
