For those of you on your way to Tanzania, I recommend you read "An Ice Cream War" by WIlliam Boyd. It is an excellent account of the battles fought in Tanzania during the First World War. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

An Ice Cream War by William Boyd is certainly available through Amazon.com and other book sellers on the web. It may be on the shelves near you as well since William Boyd is a best-selling author of a number of books about Africa including A Good Man in Africa, Brazzaville Beach and others. I recomment them all. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

According to the book, a certain Lt. Col. Stordy told some junior officers that the fighting in Africa would only last two months because it was far too hot for sustained fighting and they "would all melt like ice-cream in the sun." _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.
