Another fun book from Safari Press getting one of the old timers to put his story on paper late in life. Balson is an easy to read writer, very upbeat, plenty of interesting stories. He made 4 trips with Prince Bernard of Belgium and one interesting trip with Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia. The stories are well told and fun to read. He gives a little insight into what Tanzania was like at independence and the appalling lack of management of the game department. It is much like several other current biographical books out there right now. There is nothing controversial in this book and Balson is one of those very down to earth wildlife management professionals that had an interesting career and wrote about it. I would rate this a 7 out of 10 and would give this a soft recommendation to read. The only reason I could not rate this higher is that it is similar to other books of this genre and does not set itself apart from the others. | ||
