Death in the Rift Valley features two hunts for most of the species in Ethiopia. The safari outfitter is Nassos Russos. Overall, you get a decent feel for hunting in Ethiopia - the heat, the terrain, the people and the hunting methods. However, the poor videography detracted from the hunt sequences. The video method was repeated over and over for each animal and ended with the hunter showing off his custom guns draped over the animals. If it were not for Nassos and his skills, the video would have been a flop. The hunter makes a number of very good shots. But when Nassos compliments him, he shrugs it off as luck in a false pride sort of way. I hope to hunt Ethiopia someday and am glad to have the info from the video, but it is very average quality and is poorly edited and filmed. If you are going to Ethiopia, buy it. If not, do not waste your money.

Thoroughly enjoyed the footage. After getting all interested parties legally signed off, you take what's left (some either want too much a "cut" or to avoid the exposure) and craft both story line and coordinated video components. Marc Watts bowed out way before formulating story line and production of any DVD related to his very successful Ethiopia safari effort. Nassos seemed distant at first few viewings, but now appears quite genuine in his role. Having grown up in Ethiopia myself, perhaps I am simply disposed favorably to ANYONE who will produce for sale video offerings of what has been denied me. Jim Shockey has included some of his own extraordinary successes with Jason Roussos, someone whom the camera definetly enjoys! _______________________

I have never seen a quality product produced about Ethiopia. Werner Joesch should do one. His Cameroon video is great.
