I own + have read all of his novels of his (Eastern series)to put it lightly. I think my favorite was "Tai-Pan". The others were good as well. "Noble House" was superb as was "Whirlwind", his last in the Struan saga. Pity he died, but in my greed I seemed more concerned with the lack of his future books than his own demise at the moment. Shame on me.If you have not read his books yet,I envy you for your upcoming treasure.

He wrote King Rat first in the 50's but chronologically in his series Shogun in 1st. If I were to read them for the 1st time I would do it in this order. Shogun,Tai-Pan,Gai-Jin,King Rat,Noble House,Whirlwind. The publishers came up with another one after his death that I bought but it was only a modified edition of Whirlwind, much to my displeasure.I forget the name of that one.
