HELLO FELLOW AR MEMBERS-

I was out visiting my old Taxidermist for a Holiday visit today and he showed me his Christmas present from his son, the new book put out by the NRA, "Treasures of the NRA NATIONAL FIREARMS MUSEUM" FEATURING THE ROBERT PETERSON COLLECTION, by Jim Supica, Doug Wicklund and Phil Schreier.
This is a big coffee table book full of the most fantastic historical and artistic firearms in any one place I have ever seen!!SIMPLY SPECTACULAR !! Lots of Doubles and pistols with incredible engraving.......

Better yet it is on sale at Barnes and Nobel at $19.98 and since day before Christmas, it is on the 50% off table- YUP $9.95!!......this is a fantastic buy and every gun nut should have this compendium of collector firearms. B&N still had 4 more copies at the Lakewood, WA store...and they are hidden UNDER the 1/2 off GIFT Table, so hard to find.....this is a bargain, I bought three copies....one for me and to for gifts!!
It might be available from Barnes and Noble on line, but watch out for shipping....this is a Brick!! It is worth a quick trip to the shopping mall for this one!!
Cheers,

Thanks for the tip, ordered mine. If I can ever bring myself to visit the DC area again, I'll be sure and visit the museum. I'd love to see the Petersen collection, especially the Parker Invincibles.

Neat book, but damnation, can't they find an American printer?

There are a few Hoenigs in there from Peterson's collection. George told me a long time ago that he would have been a world-famous gun builder had Bob Peterson not bought up almost everything he built! George is a hell of a fellow.

Hello BaxterB- I hear you!! I was in the pulp and paper business for 33 years with a Fortune 100 company....and the business has declined so badly that they actually sold off all of the Paper Division and the paper grade pulp mills to a Canadian firm....it is VERY difficult to find a Quality US printer that is price competitive for book printing...end of story!! SAD as we used to shoot birds together with a bunch of our Paper clients and book printers, extraordinaire!!
I agree that George is a great gunmaker, he shoots with us at our Bi-annual Double Rifle shoots in Central Oregon. I just received a Christmas card from Buck Buckner, actually the wagon master for the double shoot, he shot his second largest elk he has ever taken this year, and he has shot many...with an 8x57 George Hoenig round action double rifle out of the Bob Petersen Collection he bought at auction several years ago!!...Bob never fired it!!
Happy HEALTHY and Prosperous New Year to ALL!!
Cheers,

That is a fantastic book, over 1000 color pictures, a steal for $12.99. I sent a copy to my engraver, who is no slouch, was blown away.
