Good, not great - is the best description I can give this book. It is a bit eclectic in that the author writes on a wide range of subjects, mostly in a vignette style. He does not tell his story chronologically but carries off his observations very understatedly. He had numerous well known clients and worked with the Kerr-Downey-Selby group in Botswana. He gives a lot of opinions on guns, quotas, governments and partners that is similar to a retired NFL player telling stories on his coaches and teammates.

Overall a fun read, a bit over priced, well put together by Safari Press. I stick with "good, not great" because there is nothing really new here - just more stories, some with a different twist.

I rate this a soft 7 out of 10 and would suggest that you look for this book on the after market at a price less than $70.

Leopard by Boddington. I was very interested but the price put it a bit out of reach.

Donato,
I have not read "Leopard" yet. It is a bit pricey for me. I would expect it to be very well presented as most of Boddington's books are. His partner in this book is Dave Fulson, a videographer out of Dallas that books hunts for Chifuti and is an "Africa-aholic". I would expect the pictures to be excellent as well based on Dave's previous work.

I have seen the video on which the book is based (or vice versa). It is good, but not great. It is a little slow in places but then again, leopard hunting is a bit slow at times. The "Buffalo" video is a little faster paced for my taste.

That's interesting because I thought the leopard video was a little more polished. Maybe being the 2nd in production helped it a bit. Craig is working on a elephant video also with the help of Richard Harland. That should be good!
