He passed away last week or the prior. I enjoyed his books. Each book was very well written and you could say many were historical fiction much like WEB Griffin.

We still have Wilbur Smith, but it doesn’t seem like he writes much of his stuff anymore.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I have a great many of his books + did get to meet him at a book signing a few years ago. My sympathies for the family. And yes, you're right, Wilbur Smith is getting along as well.

Wilbur’s lady book I read was awful - it was ASSIGAI.

Too silly compared with his earlier ones.

True, his later writings are pretty fanciful, to say the least, but the things that he has in common with Cussler (IMO) is that I can't read too many of them in a row. Same plot,sequence,etc. Now WEB Griffin is another matter. I can read him over + over in sequence + I do (not the badge of honor ones though, those suck IMO) But his military works are superb. A great mix of a novel with history.

Must say for as often as I’ve seen his books I’ve never read one. Have read some Wilbur Smith, but my favorite of his is actually his auto-biography On Leopard Rock.

If you get a chance to try some Web Griffin, I think you'll like his writing. I bought the 1st edition of On Leopard Rock for a friend of mine who is a dyed in the wool Wilbur Smith fan.
