The golden age of safaris spanned eighty years, a time when such legendary hunters as RJ Cunninghame, Philip Percival, JA Hunter, Karamoja Bell and the romantic Denys Finch Hutton roamed the African bush. They inspired Ernest Himingway, Robert Ruark and Karen Blixen. Whose stories became movies starring Clark Gable, Gregpry Peck and Robert Redford. Romantic and frequently reckless, these professional hunters were witnesses to the richest wildlife spectacle the earth has ever known.
I can whole heartedly second Saeed's recommendation of this book. Probably the most complete listing of, and information on, famous PHs in existence. Changed my view of Blor Blixen who was portrayed as a worthless SOB in the movie Out of Africa. For sheer volume of useful information in one book this has to be the best. If I could have only one Africa book, this would probably be it.
