I've got to get a wish list going for some of the books I don't have and a number of them are reviewed here. I think Dogcat should just send me some of his. What's on your must read list this year? Mine includes... Washing of the Spears Crocodile eats the Sun Vagabond Hunter (hate to admit I don't have it) Boddington's Buffalo book _______________________________

Bryan, Boddington's Leopard book I would say will be a collector's item one day, plus it's a good reference and interesting read. Great photos also. Only 1250 copies have been/ will ever be printed. Richard.

Hello my friend. Thanks for the reminder. You're certainly right. I have his leopard and buff (first one) DVDs. Anyone have his 2nd buff DVD and can comment? I haven't heard much about it. _______________________________

I just ordered Craig's leopard book, buffalo book and African Experience DVD. I hope the DVD will be of interest to my dad as I want him to make one trip with me. Looks like Craig's 2nd buff dvd is not out until next month. _______________________________

I ordered a few more things... -Finn Aagaard on Kenya audio CDs -Peter Flacks South Africa DVDs -Boddingtons Where Lions Roar audio CDs -Tales of a Trophy Hunter in Africa by Flack (I have his other book called Heart of an African Hunter) In addition, I have recently started but need to finish reading Terry Wielands book on Dangerous Game Rifles, Richard Harlands book on Paul Grobler, and African Hunter II. If I weren't finishing a graduate degree, I would be much more active in my Africana reading. I like my books better than I like my guns. _______________________________

Bryan, Craig's 'Boddington on Buffalo 2' will be out any time now. I just heard from Dave Fulson who does most of the filmimg, saying they have been putting the finishing touches before burning the DVDs. I was with Dave for his bull elephant hunt in June this year and he also shot a great old buff, so I hope some of that will appear on the DVD. The team has been working on 'Boddington on Elephant' for a couple of years but that might only be done sometime next year. The 'Buffalo' book you will enjoy. The 'African Experience' DVD has much of interest, however they made a bit of a technical cock-up and some of the footage is a bit blurred. I hope you will not be disappointed with the Boddington Leopard book since I reccomended it!!! Some day I'd like to hear your honest assessment of it. It seems you'll be busy for a long time ahead before getting through all your new books and DVDs! Happy reading! Richard.

I'm still waiting for Obsessed! to be delivered from Safari Press. I need to quit ordering books that are on backorder, but it might get here in time for Christmas.

Bill, I'm pretty excited about this book. I know you are too. Any idea why its taking so long? Seems like I placed my order in May when they estimated Early Fall as the delivery date.

It could be any number of reasons. Safari Press prints many of its books (especially the ones with lots of color, which this one has) in Asia. It probably has something to do with shipping by boat. A couple of years ago a ship carrying SP books sat in a harbor in California for nearly a month before it could be unloaded. Bill Quimby

I know you know what is in the book, Bill , but I don't. All I know is that I'm addicted to the big sheep hunting books, especially the Asian argalis. I thought Robert Anderson's "Wind, Dust and Snow" was one of my favorite books. Of course, I really enjoyed "Trophy Hunter in Asia" by Elgin Gates a tremendous amount. I hope the Golabchi book is as good as I think it will be.

But Golabchi's is much better than Gates, unless you favor dark and stormy night purple prose, tall tales and downright fibs. Golabchi's hunting feats probably will never be matched by anyone, and if he says he did something, you can bet the rent that he did. Unfortunately, he is not a photographer. I'm interested in seeing how Safari Press' art director handles his photos. Bill Quimby
