This classic hunting book that Robert Ruark wrote and immortilaized Africa, the .416 and Harry Selby. I recently got this classic from Safari Press, since i had the norwegian edition from 1954 ,i thought that it was the same book. Wrong the Norwegian had been edited, it seemed like it wasnt possible to write a thing that resembled telling a war story without it being edited by labour party editors. I havent read it through yet but there was several pages that wasnt in the Norwegian one, why did they do this? But thoughtfully it just cost me 30 us to get the full story of how it should have been translated. But it is a great book, and even though i havent been to africa yet, it feels like i have lived for many years. A great guy and a great teller of how a safari is.

Mr. Rigby, that is indeed a classic. The book is one of my favorites.

Agreed; this is one of the finest books about safari that I have read. I got my copy back in about 1990, after searching for it for many years. eBay wasn't around then, and in those days it took some time to complete a Ruark collection. I got lucky and found a first edition copy at a flea market in NC for $90. Just last month I shipped it off to Botswana to get Harry Selby to sign it, and now that it's back it holds a prized position on my bookshelf. Thinking back, it took me a solid ten years to collect copies of all of Ruark's books. You can do it in a week nowadays.

I do not have a first edition. A first addition signed by Harry Selby is definatly priceless, but if you come up with a price let me know.
