For those of you not familiar with AR poster Steve Hughes, he is one of the finest custom gun builders in America. Good enough that our recent phone conversation elicited the information that he is far enough behind that he has had to stop accepting commissions.

Anyway: he has authored three books; Custom Rifles in Black and White, Double Guns and Custom Gunsmithing, and Double Shotguns. The set is $120 and I got my autographed copies just before Christmas. My wife was ready to throttle me because I stayed up until after 3am reading them. Steve did most if not all his own photography, and the pictures are just gorgeous. He is very good at explaining the custom touches he incorporates into work. Ever seen a Madole side lever conversion of a number three Ruger single shot action?

I highly recommend picking up a set while all three are still available. Some of the best in my library.
