Oh wow,a place to watch vintage flics. In the early 70's we had a thing called the Zilker Hillside Theatre in Zilker Park here in Austin. This entailed the vast park grounds out in the open. They set up a screen + waited for dark. You were incouraged to bring a picnic basket + a couple of bottles of wine + watch "The Thin Man",etc. on your blanket under the stars They even did a gig out on Lake Austin (Lady Bird Lake) where we had a cordoned off area where everyone was in inner tubes watching 'Jaws'. They had some divers that would come under + indiscemently grab someones leg.Lotta fun really.only negative on that is when we went there to the "Night Of The Living Dead".It's dark, you're out in the open, the tree line is behind you;hey guess what, that movie got even scarier. Never mistake motion for action.

I suppose that this may foolish for those who already live in Austin, but every summer the old Classic Paramount Theatre puts on a series of classics on the big screen (just like when you were a kid) usually ending up with Gone With The wind or Lawrence Of Arabia. If you are new to Austin, check it out;the play list will be in the Austin Chronicle shortly before summer.Probably one could pull it up online by Paramount....Austin Theatre Alliance....Austin Chronicle, etc. For those from out of town who are planning a visit it is a great venue + experience. (But please don't move here,we have enough.) Never mistake motion for action.
