| In Part 1: To the island of war/ The open door, he describes the contrast of the old grizzled African veterans returning from Africa and the young men getting ready to depart to Africa to seek their fortunes in the lobby of the Grand Hotel du Louvre et de la Paix at Marseilles. It is some of the most elegant prose you will ever have the pleasure of reading. ESW's writing style is wonderful. |
