Wieland's two books of interest to me.
Dangerous Game Rifles
A View From The Hill
If any of you have read them, tell me what you think. Thanks

I haven't read either of them. His "Spiral Horn Dreams" and "Spanish Best" are good, though.

Spiral Horn Dreams is very good, though I thought he borrowed too liberally from other works in the first few chapters. It does have a great insight into who Terry is as a professional though. He varies from the accepted notion of the "Spiral Horn 9" though and adds some of the ringed horns as well. It is a fantastic book, in my opinion.

Dangerous Game Rifles is very good to someone like who isn't an expert on double rifles. I have read a few reviews where some thought it was a little bit "regurgitated", but I thought it was well written and enlightening.

I like Wieland's work and look forward to picking up a copy of "A View From A Tall Hill".

I'm going to be in Reno, both at SCI and the ACGG show. I'd like to meet with you if you will be attending either.

I received a first edition of Spanish Best today. A beautiful new copy. I will read it after I get back from the Dallas show. I was pleased to see the two AYAs on the cover. I have an AYA in 28 gauge - a "feather" - and a Garbi in 20 gauge. Wonderful examples of Spanish best. cheers

the books are pretty good, thorough...but a bit wordy. They could have been shortened by about 15% and not lost anything, IMHO.
"A View From A Tall Hill" chronicles the life of Robert Chester Ruark, jr. from diapers to gravestone. I have read everything Ruark wrote, and this puts it into wonderful perspective for Ruark fans. Any fan of Ruark's should own this book!

The other is good, but he does evince a hero-worship of Craig Boddington for some reason. A lot of the work reads like a catalog or prospectus. Informative, but not really too entertaining. That may be the premise though, mostly the dissimination of data.

Both are worth owning, my wife got me the two of them from Amazon.com for less than $40 for me for Christmas.
They are detailed; I had to read them in chunks and think a bit about what was written in order to absorb them.
