I'd suggest something like "Anne of the green gables" or some other book from 30's-50's. Did your mother in law read to her kids? Maybe your wife can remember a favorite book and return the favor by reading it back to her. edited to add that the book was first published in 1908, earlier than I thought! for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Here it is in digital form: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/45 Also, the gutenberg.org website has most any book imaginable from that era if she thinks of something else it will probably be there and you can put it on a tablet or kindle. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Thanks for the input guys. I opted to going through the library + getting a bit of early P.G. Wodehouse. Light + easy + funny in short story form.Especially Jeeves + Wooster. She does'nt stay awake long + this will help her + the other old lady in the room to stop their TV volume wars.
