Elmer Keith had Cartridge the 338-378 Keith Thompson.I could have bought one a few years back but a friend got it.Elmer Keith shot about every day he could and hunted every day he copuld.He guided in Idaho and Alaska .He was very gun smart in thinking up new ideas.He thought up range finding scopes in the 1940s.And glow sites for pistols and tons of long range wildcats .He was a major influnece in the gun and gun writing industry.Bill Ruger and Smith and Wesson listened to him.Its funny he brought out the 41 mag as a police load in the 60s the .40s&w is close to that load.His Keith style bullets are still used by many shooters today.He practiced long range pistol shooting alot not just writing about it.He wrote 10 books that are all awesome reading and the Gun notes books of his Gunnotes collum are awesome also.I am working on a full signed set of his books.
