There seems to be no end to the aftermarket choke tubes that are availible that claim to improve patterns and extend effective range. Most of these are for 12 ga but I see a few for the 10 ga guns as well. I have an older Browning BPS 10 ga with the 3 std Invector choke tubes that come with the shotgun. I use the gun mainly for geese and normally use Hevi shot along with some steel normally not larger than # 2.Ocassionally it gets used with # 2 lead on foxes and coyotes. I also use some copper plated # 4 on turkeys. Is there a choke tube out their that would improve patterns or would I be wasting my money? Would appreciate hearing from some who shoot a 10 ga. Thanks

Standard Invectors are very, very easy to improve upon.

I have a Pattern Master for My 10 ga. BPS works GREAT for Geese. It's hard to measure for sure but I'm convinced I took a Canada (Goose) out of the air when he (she?) was up over 50 yards. Shot was Bismuth in BB.

It's supposed to be good for Turkey also but I've never been able to spot one when I was out hunting them Frowner

My gun is one of the older wood stocked guns with a 30" barrel. It's pretty heavy and I put a Kick-ezz (SP) pad on it so it's a pussy cat to shoot. A bear to carry though Roll Eyes

Tomorrow morning call Comp-N-Choke at 888-875-7906. Ask for Chuck. Tell him what your intentions/expectations are. He will fix you up.

Sounds like you may need more than one tube for the steel & Hevi and another for lead (why #4's for turkeys?).

With my BPS 10, I actually shoot my steel through the factory mod. or imp. cyl. tubes. For lead turkey loads I use the Comp-N-Choke XXX-full tube. It will throw MONSTER patterns of #6 shot to 45 yards & more. And for some reason (although it should actually be too tight a choke) it throws SUPER MONSTER patterns of copper plated #2's to 70 yards!!!!

Thanks for the input guys. I phoned up tru-loc and got treated like royalty.Nice people. Ended up buying one of their tubes .In a week it was here Can hardly wait for some warm weather so I can get to the range and do some patterning. It was -28 deg here a couple mornings ago so I haven't tried it out yet. Strut10 Why # 4s because that was the smallest copper plated shot I had on hand. # 6s would have been a denser pattern for head shots but if you don't have any ????
