I learned a little late, but Shreveport lost a great guy recently, Merle Kimmerly. As a kid growing up, Merle was THE GURU when it came to shotgun - 'TRAP/SKEET' shooting. He had a 97% success rate in over 67,000 clay targets.

This man was always on the cutting edge of inventing new technology for shooters to improve their scores. I recall he was playing around with various stock designs including Mercury filled buttstocks for reducing recoil - Long before the commercial market had them. Eager to help, one could always find Merle at the local Shreveport Gun Club teaching young kids, ladies, as well as grown men the proper technique in shotgun shooting. He also was instrumental in the success of the old 'Bossier Strip' having several nightclubs. Dad had a band and also went to the range weekly so they became good buds thru business and hobbies. Merle was 86.
