I am looking for an unobtrusive sighting system for occasional use of brenneke slugs. Was thinking along the lines of a shallow express sight with an extra folding leaf but wondered if some of the ghost ring sights out there (like those offered by scattergun technologies) would work without being in the way when shooting birdshot.

I have a Winchester 9410 that came with one of those shallow "V"s and it really got in the way when shooting clay targets. I imagine it would for any rising target. I replaced it with a Williams WGOS and used the Aperture carrier from a WGRS. The large hole works much better. For accurate shooting I could always get the .150" aperture from the AK and Sweedish Mauser sights.

Folding would be even better. Look at www.e-GunParts.com. I thinks under new products they have a rear sight piece that replaces the adjustable part of the factory rear sight for Winchesters. A bit pricey for what it is, but it might give you some ideas.

What type of shotgun? With my 870, I found the most cost effective solution was a second barrel (Hastings) with the cantilever scope mount. Or you can get one with rifle sights.

I think I may just go a little fancy and put a folding sight into the rib.
