I have an old Outers thrower that I have a question about. On the arm that the birds lay on, there is a piece of rubber-like material on the right side under the lip as you face the machine (uncocked). Does anyone know what purpose this soft piece serves? My machine's piece is old, hardened, and lumpy. Could I possibly replace it with pieces cut from an innertube? Thanks-- An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Seems I went thru this on mine. I believe it helps hold the pigeon when the trap is elevated and helps to keep the bird against the arm so that it doesn't get smacked when the arm releases. As the rubber hardens the birds tend to slide down the arm. I replaced mine after a few years but can't remember what material I used; think it was cut from some heavy rubber floor matt. C.G.B.

CG Bach--thanks for the help--I'll see what I can do to get it operating again. Of course, a new one is less than $40 so it might not be worth it. Have to see how it is mechanically. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"
