Competition days are gone and the only shotgun left in the safe is a Beretta A400 Multi Target (12 ga in nice shape). Bought new when ATA trap became too taxing. Thinking about a 20ga O/U or S/S for casual trap, skeet, 5 stand or sporting clays. Any ideas out there?

A S/S seems appropriate for an old fart and I really appreciate an adjustable stock, but I don's see any on S/S guns. Thoughts/suggestions most welcome.

I don't know if you see many Miroku shotguns in the States, I think the Brownings are marketed more. Both brands are made in the same Miroku manufacturing plant in Japan with mainly cosmetic differences between the Miroku and Browning models.

The earlier Miroku 7000 Sporter 20G O/U model with chopper lump barrels and invector chokes would IMO fill the bill nicely for you.

I have had immense pleasure using my Miroku 12G Sporter 7000 since purchasing it new in 1984. It has fired thousands of rounds on DTL trap, skeet, sporting clays, gamebirds and wild fowl, never missing a beat and the lockup as perfect as the day it was new.
I found the 13mm wide ventilated rib on the 7000 Sporter perfect when making the transition from SXS shotguns back in 1984, the usual narrow rib and sight picture on stack barrel O/U's often being a negative feature to those who like SXS's for game shooting.

Such a 20G Miroku 7000 SP-1 (Grade 1) gun came up for sale recently on our national auction site and had I had some spare cash I would have loved to purchase that gun. My 12 yo grandson uses a single shot 20G I purchased for him a couple of years ago and he is due to make the transition to a double. He used a 20G O/U on a clay shoot last year and did really well, now wants one for the duck shooting we do each year. His dad doesn't want him to have a semi just yet.

The Miroku's shoulder and point well, even for me a left hander, and have nicely figured walnut woodwork, with engraving that some say is better than the Brownings.

The Mirokus are popular in England, Europe and down under in Australia and NZ.

I would certainly recommend looking at them if available around your neck of the woods.

If you are wanting to go sxs I would consider an AYA Number 2. This gun is a copy of Holland & Holland sidelock ejector. It has nice engraving and is made of modern steel. The shotgun retails new for just over 11k, but if you look hard on the used market they go for about 3k. I let my H&H go a couple years ago And bought the AYA because the H&H just got to valuable to hunt with. For the money I think the AYA number 2 is the best value out there in sxs shotguns.

Changed mind: keeping A400 and forgetting SXS's. I'd delete thread if I could. Mike
