I just finished reading "After Big Game in Central Africa" by Edouard Foa about his safari from around 1893 to 1897. In the book he says he has a "Winchester fouling piece in 12 gauge, 6 shots". Anybody have any idea which shotgun this would be? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

I think I found the answer to my question, the Winchester 1893 pump action shotgun for black powder loads. Could it have been anything else? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

It was the forerunner of the 1897 and is likely that one.

Could also have been the Winchester 1887 Lever action that was black powder only in 12 and 10 guage. I am not sure of the capacity however.
