For years I've used Rifled Slugs in my 870 w/ a smooth bore barrel. It has Rifled Sights so it is accurate up to 75-100 yds. Will the Sabot Slugs perform as well as the Rifled Slugs in the smooth bore barrel with a Fixed Imp. Cyl. Choke.

Don't waste your time or money. You really need a rifled barrel, or at least a rifled choke, to get the sabots to fly right. You'll be disappointed by the sabots in a smoothbore. I've shot the old Foster type slugs out of a scoped smoothbore Deerslayer for a looong time now. They shoot accurately enough out to the ranges that I use them. Rifled barrels & sabots are a plus, but at realistic whitetail ranges, I don't feel disadvantaged by my smoothbore.

You may also haveproblems with squib rounds from using sabots in a smooth bore, I have persoanlly seen it twice.

TrapShooter: The sabot slug requires either a rifled barrel or a special slug rifled interchangeable choke tube. Your fixed IC is perfect for a Remington shotgun to shoot rifled slugs. Briley Manufacturing is renown for their shotgun expertise. Briley's website is: www.briley.com

I was one happy fella when my wife purchased me a rifled barrel for my Mossberg 835. The performance of sabots in it compared to the Fosters in a 20 gauge smoothbore is like night and day to me now. I have a great wife dont I?
