There is a Remington Mohawk 48 Semi in good condition I want to buy and restore. Problem is, the previous owner carved his name in the receiver like an idiot. Not near or over any markings or engraving. I think I can grind it out until smooth with sandpaper & steel wool then re-blue. Shop is asking 150.00 but I am going to offer 100.00 cash . Appropriate or not?

Make sure the thing works, some of the parts are next to impossible to find- if it works well it is a reasonable buy.

In my area $100. would be a fair price for this shotgun. The other poster is also correct, make positive it works. Parts are near impossible to find.
