I painted my shotgun, Remmy 870, several years ago with a camo paint that was supposed to be easily removed with some solvent. The paint cans are long gone and I don't remember which solvent was recommended. I tried denatured alcohol with no luck. There is a good factory finish under the paint that I don't want to ruin. Any suggestions?

If you read the fine print on the paint can it says it only comes off with ease if you never leave it on for more tha 30 days. Remingtons finish is pretty tough, you might try some lacquer thinner on the paint and then have a rag ready to wipe it dry. Try a small spot first.

Acetone or MEK will do the job but be sure you don't care about whatever finish exists under you camo paint. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I used a aresol can of stripper that has the gel looking paint stripper in it when I did one a while back. Worked well. I bought it at home depot. I'm not telling you it will not harm your finish, It didn't harm the finish on mine but, I repainted it anyway w/ a better quality camo and stencil job. Good Luck Reloader
