Thanks for the link to the Merkel site. How do Merkels compare with similarly priced Berrettas I have developed a likeing for Merkels of late.

If you do not intend to use steel shot, the Brownings would be a good start. I am in the market for a sxs and I called Browning about the use of steel shot. The rep said do not shoot steel shot in any Browning shotgun with out the screw in chokes. The barrel steel is too soft. So I ordered a Beretta Silver Hawk. You might also check out the HK "Classic Lion" It is in the 1K range. Some guy in Nebraska sells the for that price I think.
