hey all, i don't know if this quiestoin has been asked yet or not, i don't hang around in this form much, mostly in the varminting. any who, which shotgun do u all think is better? the remington 11-87, or the browning gold? i am looking at a remington 11-87 SP super magnum, and i have also looked at the browning, but didn't see any 3.5 inch chamber 12 guage guns. it seemed to me, that the browning is no better than remingotn, and over priced. am i right? A Remington is hard to beat, but I would like to see how the Benelli's perform. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Browning does make a 3.5" chamber. I like my 3" 12 ga. browning gold because it is lighter than the 11-87 and the walnut looks sharp to me. Something else I've heard is that the 11-87 is hard to clean, don't take my word on it, just something to look into. If price is an issue, than we know which one it is. I just happened to find mine used for 550.00, but it had barely been fired and looks brand new. CJW15

I suppose it depends what you want your shotgun for. Remingtons are generally less durable and require that you keep extra gas seals, bolt linkages, etc. but only if you're shooting them a lot (like for sporting clays or other clay games)...not so much of an issue for a hunting gun. So if it's primarily a hunting gun then there really isn't that much difference between the Remington and the Browning. However, if you're into other shotgun games the Browning (and its twin the Winchester Super X2) pretty much blow the 11-87 away in terms of durability and cycle speed.
