Perhaps someone can help me. I installed a B Square mount on Benelli Nova pump. At first I couldn't pump the action all the way back. After loosening the mount screws, the action would come back but the gun would only fire about one out of three times. I loosened it further and the gun seems to fire but I really haven't fired it enuf to tell if this will continue. Also, I wonder if the mount is tight enuf to hold and maintain zero. It seems that the action is being jammed by the mount. Thanks Ray Ray, Alias newtoot OR is it Vice Versa?

newtoot, This is a common problem with saddle mounts. It happens on steel, aluminum and reinforced "plastic" receivers, like the Nova. You will find by feel how much to loosen the screws so the gun works properly. I suppose that your gun did not came drilled and tapped for scope mounts or you want to use it for bird hunting as well by removing the saddle-scope combination. But if for any reason you intent to permanently mount a scope base on the receiver, better use a steel one. Although I did not put a scope base on my Nova yet, I bought a blank steel Weaver type base from EAW, Germany. They come with dovetail cuts only and they are flat bottomed. You or your gunsmith could machine this base patterned the same as the Weaver 423M (#48443), drill and tape the receiver (if needed) and put it on. If your Nova is not drilled, I would suggest more than 4 screws to be used. 5 or even 6 base screws is better I think. Also, if you intent to use some Weaver type detachable rings make the cross slots on the base as narrow as possible, concerning width, so that the recoil lugs of the rings fit without front-rear play. And use steel rings. If i can help more, please, e-mail me. I could sent to you photos of the parts. Sincerely, Lefteris

I have saddle mounts on my SBE and an 1100 for turkey, haven't had any problems other than my batteries dying in the red dots when left on too long. BTW, I have shot many turkeys with them, my nine year old got his first turkey with one too. I am not a fan of Benelli, they are high priced and cheaply made. I have had mine since 1991, it is an HK SBE, and have put thousands of rounds through it hunting waterfowl, pheasant, and turkey, I have had it fail numerous times due to both cold weather and mechanical problems (including breakage), so I feel I can make that remark as well as the next guy.
