700 Nitro,
I have a Browning Lightning in .410/ choke tubes that I really like. However, the one that I had prior to this one had crooked barrels, both barrels shot 8-9" high and right and Browning said it was within their specs and refused to do anything about it. All over/unders are not created equal.
I would recommend buying a used one if you can, that way you can most likely pattern it before laying down any cash.

man that is weird i have 12 gauge browning xs with the silver nitride reciver and gold inlays and it patterns great consistant scores of 22of 25 easy. i love that gun.

maybe when you talked to someone at browning they were trying to brush you off i would have asked to speak to the head of customer service or head of the repair dept.

i would have been royaly pissed off something terrible.

i dont buy second hand guns i stoped doing so a few years ago.

700 Nitro,
I was told that it was tested by a 30 year veteran of the company and was found within specs. I asked why my Son's K-Mart .410 single not only shot better quality patterns, but also hit where you were looking, there was silence for a while.
Not to brag but i'm a fair hand with a shotgun, but with this one I was chipping targets or just plain missing. I thought it was me until I patterned it.
Browning sells all their guns before they are made and one customer seems to mean little to them. Their customer service SUCKS, at least in this instance.

Not sure of the model, but I have a 410 bore and 28 Ga Citori built in about 1981. I got them both slightly used from the same person. These are field model guns, satin fininsh, both choked imp cyl/mod, 26" barrels, pistol grip. We have put about 1200 rounds through the 410 and about 2000 through the 28. Both have worked flawlessly. My youngest son uses the 28 for dove hunting. But most use is with clay birds.
