I was at my local Gander Mountain looking at the sights (I prefer to buy in small local owned shops) When I noticed something new to me.
There was a stack of slug barrels for various shotguns with the Ithica name on the package.
There were cantaliever rifled slug barrels for the Browning Gold for $149.00. Thats cheep compared to a barrel with the Browning name on it.
Has anyone shot one of these? Price wise it seems too good to be true

Hairtrigger,

Haven't seen them yet. Good idea though, and Mossberg also makes barrels that fit other brands.

Good idea, shopping locally. I do the same thing. As long as they try to be reasonable (lets face it- some are crooks) I'm willing to pay a bit more to keep a local shop in buisness.

I buy almost all my new stuff a the same shop. He knows me. Special orders with no deposit and I always have a signed FFL when I go on vacation- you never know what you might find... I had one gun beat me home.

About the local shopping... I am an hour from Cabelas and have been there plenty of times. I have spent less than $15.00 there. If you like paying list price it is heaven. The selection is second to none.
I do the comparing then come home to my local dealer who happily orders the items I want.
I understand my taste in guns is not mainstream and do not expect to see it on his shelf.
It usually seems that I am the only one leaving Dundee without several shopping bags. I reload all my ammo so there may be deals on ammo there which I have never looked at

hello fellow buckeyes,

I, like the both of you like to support the local shops. You get better service ,more help with something special you want or need, and its nice to have friends to do business with that you can trust!

I like to look at ANY gunshop as you never know what you might find.I always look through the yellow pages when on vacation or traveling to find out if there are any near by.

In my area there aren't much of any shops to look through.I have to drive to 90 minutes to hit one that has much of anything. Most local shops are very seasonal, full of shotguns now and no rifles unless taken in on trade. But you can get a decent buy on used rifles this time of year.

This state needs a place that sells target scopes and precison dies, like Redding or Forester and has them in stock. Its to the point i just order off the net when i want high quality dies, scope bases and rings.

Live to shoot-Shoot to live!
