For at least 20 years I have wanted a Browning B-80 Upland Special in 20ga. Saw one at a show once and it was the most lively little self-feeder I ever held. Had never run across another one until yesterday. An unfired pair of Uplands in 12 & 20 came in on consignment at the shop I work at. I'm trying to shift the funds around to cover the 20. The barrels on both guns are stamped "3" Magnum Invector & 2 3/4". The "& 2 3/4" looks to have been stamped as an after thought because it's slightly off center. My question for anybody who owns one is whether they will reliably cycle light loads. I have no intention of shooting magnums in the dainty 20 bore and would only shoot light 7/8 or 1 oz target/dove loads. The value books list the Upland as having 2 3/4" chambers but being 3" capable by switching barrels. A little research revealed that evidently the later ones were B-80 Plus guns that would handle all loads, which is obviously what these are. Being unfired, I can't very well load it up with light loads and take it out on the indoor range. If they do handle 2 3/4" & 3", is there anything internal that has to be changed around or are they good to go as is? Thanx for any feedback. I have never owned or shot a B-80 so want to make sure this gun will do what I need it to do before I take the plunge. | ||
