I just ordered a Benelli Nova 12 Ga. 24" in Camo. I plan on using it primarily on coyote calling and as a truck gun. Anyone have any experience with this shotgun? Is it the Glock of pumps?

no, I had one for a bit, and did not like it at all, too light, and kicks like a mule with heavy loads.

I liked my moss 500 and rem 870 much more than it, its just a benelli logo on a junk action IMHO

I have sold quite a few Novas in both 12 and 20 gauge. Most with rifled barrels for deer hunting. Only a couple of complaints about recoil with heavy 12 gauge loads. Benelli does offer a mercury recoil reducer for 12 gauge guns. TTS

I hate to give someone who just ordered a new gun a bad review....but, my experience with the Nova was REAL BAD. So here goes: mine blew up on me .

I was shooting skeet and was at a doubles station...as I was pumping in the second round, the gun fired w/out the bolt having completely closed. Result was a a blown receiver and one very scared shooter!

Sent it back to Benelli who looked at the gun and said that the this could not have been the fault of their gun/design and concluded that the shell I fired must have had a high primer. Offered a new Nova at a discounted price, which I declined.

Bottom line....I dont think they were correct and they simply were guarding against potential liability. However, even if you assume that they were, accidents can and will happen, so from now on I want a steel receiver between an exploding shell and my face and hands......not that silly plastic!!

If I were you....I would cancel the order and get something else.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I have had great luck with my Nova. I won one in 12ga. 28" at a sporting clays tournament. I'm not big on pumps or autos anymore (prefer O/U's much more) but have shot a model 12 since I was a kid and more recently put quite a few rounds through an 870. The Nova handles worlds apart from any other pump I've shot. I've shot decent scores in sporting clays with it. I only used it in one round of skeet and ran it.

Hope that helps,
Kyler
