I do not understand the question; however, about anything that comes out of a 12 gauge barrel that is pointed toward you will make you think you have seen the light at the end of the tunnel.

hi
it depened what kind of self deffens is. if it is against predastors well eley with LG which if i recall is a kind of buckshot. it will work at short distance very well if the the weight of animal is not more than 300 pounds. the buck shot has been used effectively for boar hunting at short distance. the use of buckshot inside home against theives is not good , because it can penetrate the walls and hit the guys behind. nomber 5 shot will do the job well.

#LG buckshot is the English equivalence of #000 buckshot.

No, it is too big and too few pellets.

At under ten yards the lethality of a shotgun is irrelevant of what or what is not in it. No6 will kill as well as LG or OOO.

Between ten and twenty things change not a lot but there is a start to consideration of distance and pattern.

Over twenty and those differences become more pronounced too far and the smaller shot has not enough velocity to cause an effective lethal "hit" in terms of penetration. But the bigger pellets start to give a poor pattern and the pellets, even though they do "hit" might be too few to cause an effective result. Indeed some will not be on the target at all.

Over sixty and it is probably better to use slug...or AAA.

LG which is .36" or 9mm is capable of killing at out to sixty yards. But the pattern by then is very poor. Although that depends on the choke of the gun.

If I were choosing a cartridge for "all around" self-defence at a variety of ranges I would choose AAA size shot. That is about .24" or 6mm. This will give both penetration AND pattern.

Others will suggest SSG or Special SG, again an attempt to balance lethality and pattern.
