OK people have mentioned buying "flats" of shotgun shells. Any recommendations as to where to buy these? With the cost of components still high, I am thinking of getting together with a couple of guys and doing this with Skeet shells. Can always reload them later.
Thanks, Peter.

Check with your larger local gun clubs, most of them have a supplier or two who they buy shells from. Most of the suppliers that I used to do business with would gladly sell to individuals in larger quantities.

A 'flat' of shotgun shells is usually 10 boxes of 25 shells. Like these:

They can be bought almost anywhere shotshells are sold. It is the way the manufacturers package them for shipment. The ones pictured came from Bass Pro Shops. Dick's Sporting Goods gives a discount for purchasing each flat. I currently have flats of Winchester and PMC shotshells, also.

Friend got a "discount" once...when the barcode on the flat was scanned, he was charged for a BOX of shells. He went back and filled a cart, got the same deal.
Only happened this one time, he said.

The best deal for ammo is to get a Cabella's credit card. You get points for all your purchases. We use our card for groceries and everything else. I just got $700 worth of free shells this week. Free is the best price of all.

Probably not a timely answer, but wait until acouple weeks before dove season (generally Sept 1). All the sporting goods stores run deals then and I stock up for the year on target loads.

Peter,

I realize you asked this question a long time ago, but the best deal going now are the premium target loads, Federal Gold Medals, Remington STS/Nitro, and Winchester AAs. They have a $20 rebate going per flat (up to 5 flats per company). I get my shells from a distributor and with the rebate the Nitros are $47 a flat. The name of the distributor is CAC Associates in Ebensburgh, PA. If you get enough people to order enough shells, they will deliver to FL (or they have in the past, anyway). They have a website, look up their prices, pretty reasonable for everything.
