Thinking about the Instinct L in 20 gauge. Does anyone have experience with this new line of Franchi over and unders?

I bought a Instinct L (from the Franchi division of Benelli) in 12 Ga., at Bass Pro for $1,050. This was in October of last year.

I've fired a round of sporting clays, and some trap, getting ready for a pheasant hunt in a few weeks. (I intended to get a Winchester 101, but there was a mix-up with my company when I retired, and they gave me a gift certificate that locked me in to Bass Pro instead of Cabela's.)

I looked at what BPS had and the Instinct L was recommended by a sales guy that shot Ruger himself. (The price was right. I still had $550 left on the gift certificate.)

I liked the fact that the Instinct L was light, and it mounted well from the get-go. I think the barrel is only about 25" long. I think I'm OK with that. I had a Citori years ago and it felt front-heavy all the time.

The more I look at, and use, the Instinct L, the better I like it. Hopefully after the pheasant hunt I'll still feel that way.

Good to hear, Kensco. Only Franchi I have owned was a little 48 in 28 gauge. What a wand that was.

The thing I like least about the Instinct L was the light black plastic case that it came in. Pay attention to the PUSH/PULL instruction on the clasps. If you just PULL it is much more difficult to open & close, and you can get a nice little blood blister when you pinch your finger.

Kensco, I found a 20 gauge Instinct L with 28-inch barrels on Gunbroker for $950. Should have the little wand next week. Decades ago I had a Citori 20 bored IC and M, and used it to great effect on chukar, quail, pheasants and mallards, in the days when lead shot was still legal for waterfowl. What a killer it was with 3-inch shells and 1 1/4 ounce of No. 5!
