Kare bought me a Remington 870 express 20 ga. for a Valintines day gift and our 25 anniveresy. I got it home installed the loopy rings, got to say I am not impressed with that mickey mouse wrench they supply though. I then installed a loopy verx II 3x9 on it and didn't like it at all. Removed it a couple of days latter and installled a 1.5 x 5 Bushnell dusk to dawn on it. I like this scope on the shot rifle. Any how it has been a while and Kare asked me a day or so ago why I haven't shot it yet? I told her shells for it are expencive so I wan't going to go stand on the back porch and fire it offand I also haven't had a bunch of time to play if she hasn't noticed. Soon how ever I am going to take the time to set up the shooting bench and see what this thing can do. I was told and sold 2 3/4 buck hammers even though I had 2 boxes of 3 inch shells at check out time. Fella said they were so over powered they would not engage the rifleing. And that is my story. In my younger days I couldn't wait to shoot a new gun. some times if the gun shop had a range I shot it there before it even got home. while today being older I put it off for the right day, savoring the moment when I can squeeze the trigger. Al From an old slug shooter (BTW, if you can shoot from the porch, aren't you in rifle country?) - guyin the store is right. Forget 3" shells. 2 3/4" work just fine. The jolt from a 3" shell really matters! Look at my user name - I'm not particularly bothered by recoil and always found 3" shells whether shot or slug to really jolt. Sighting in with a scope with a shotgun always is tricky. I just don't have any opinion about scopes - My thought is -whatever magnifies enough to zero in at 50 yards is what to go with. (How much a scope is affected by a shotgun's recoil should be always perfectly well considered by any reputable manufacturer and then its very iffy. Just my thoughts.

I can shoot from the porch here even though it is shot gun, muzzle loader of pistol deer hunting zone during out regular firearm deer season. There is no such restriction when hunting varmits and other stuff one might us a rifle for. I shoot my rifles here too. Problem is I can only get 138 yards for distance shooting, any thing longer I have to do at the farm or deer camp. Al Garden View Apiaries where the view is as sweet as the honey.
