Winchester Super Sport hulls
Hello
I am working up some new shotgun loads. Gonna try a few new items this year.

I have been out of the shotgun reloading scene for a long while, when I left it, Win AA was pretty much the king.

I thought it still was. But I heared the old AA was dropped, then brought back in the new configuration, with the little sleeve in the base of it.

Has anybody figured out how to load these? Or will it take some time for the loadbooks to catch up to them?

Anyhoo, I dont like working up a load for a shell I might not be able to find in the future, so I am thinking about switching to Rem STS. They look like a good hull, so I got a few off ebay. We will see.

Winchester's newest AA hull uses the same load data that applied to the original version. I use them for low-pressure loads but prefer Remingtons for all other uses.

Same here! Once I use up AA's, will stick w/STS. They last longer, and are in good shape almost until they fail (many reloadings later). Chuck

I use the AA's for one ounce loads in 12 Gauge. More shot causes the sidewalls to buckle on about every 5th shell. They are very durable.

I prefer the Remington's for 1 and 1/8 oz loads.

If you go to Winchester's website, they have instructions on how to reload the new hulls. Basically, it means about 60 lbs of wad pressure and lowering the crimp starter to where the opening is smaller than a pencil eraser.

The hull isn't as strong, and increasing the wad pressure "pre-collapses" the wad so it moves down easier when crimping.

As far as hulls, I like anything I can pick up free and run through my pump or my wife's auto. Currently, Federal Top Guns are high on my list. HTH, Dutch.
