Just got one myself and love it. Wanted one for 25 years, but never had the cash, or the opportunity, at the same time. They're worth about $1,000 Cdn. Don't know if they're still made, but were originally by SKB, in Japan. I also have an Ithaca/SKB Mod. 500, O/U 12 ga. Great pheasant gun, though that little 20 ga. is likely to get more use for that, now.

Fischer, Thanks for the response. It is in great shape and the price was right. Do you know where I can get information on the gun. Like the years built, production numbers, different grades, history of the gun. Thanks, Matt

They were well made. There is a fancier 200 and a straight stocked 280. I had to choose between one of the 280's and a Browning B-SS. I chose the Browning and it was choked by the factory in Skeet/skeet. Great close cover grouse gun. Bob257

I am a big fan of the straight English stock. My father has a couple Browing Citori's with the straight stock. I used to borrow them to shoot doves when I was younger. They are hard to come by now. Well at least in my area. Matt

Bob257, Tough choice between the Ithaca and the Browning BSS. My decision came down to which fit me better. The Ithaca is like a glove. Never knew they came in a straight stocked 280 model. Now, something else I gotta have. [ 03-05-2003, 19:34: Message edited by: Fischer ]

I had a model 200 in 20ga. This was one step up from the 100 which was the lower grade. I bought mine new in 78 or 79. It was a great Grouse gun with 25 inch bbls choked cyl/cyl. Your gun in good condition should bring about $500.

Mine is a 20 gauge 200, gift from Dad in 1970. Still in excellent condition. Very good upland bird gun with a truckload of pheasant and quail to it's credit after 30+ years of hunting. As others stated, made in Japan by SKB for Ithaca in the late 1960's and into the 1970's. SKB may still make guns, but I don't think the 100 or 200 doubles are still available new.

I have a Mod. 100 12 ga. that I bought new in the early 70's. It came with 28 in. barrels choked Mod. & IC. Recently I had Johnny Stone of Ardmore, Ok. ("Johnny's Chokes") Cut the bbls. to 25 in. and install thin walled choke tubes. What a great upland bird gun using standard lead lowbase field loads! (By the way,Mr. Stone did a fine job.) I too liked the Mod.280 "English" with the straight grip. I just wish they would have made it with a splinter forearm to match its nice lines instead of the beaver tail.

Check out the new issure of The Shooting Sportsman. Larry Brown did an article about them and they have some pretty good chat going on about them at www.shootingsportsman.com right now. I have a friend who whas 6 of them and said he'd sell me one of his 20's. I'm looking at getting a 200E.
