Hello, i have bought this one about two weeks ago, for about $500 (10 000 CZK). It is 16 gauge S/S shotgun made by M. Ogris in Ferlach in 1914, with extractors and very long and "ultra" choked barrels. Barrels are 85cm (~33.5") long, it is special gun for duck hunting. It is still possible to use lead shots for ducks in my country, so no problem . . . I have tried this one for pidgeon and varmint shooting, it shoots like a rifle - if you are capable to hit target (pattern is really "tight"), it is simply smashed down at ranges as 20m or so. It is definitively for higher flying targets. It (or she) was shooting a little bit "off face", so I lathe turned and polished new "barrel hinge" (don't know exact translation to english), it is about 0.1mm thicker than old one (made from heat treated spring steel) (barrel lug was a little bit worn), also I made another little bit gunsmithing and it is now tight as new. Also it was disassembled, cleaned, few parts repaired or tuned (for next 100 years), automatic safety function removed (hate this) and now it functions better than new :-) Barrels inside are a worn a little, but it still shoots great and will for many years . . . nothing bad for used gun from 1914 . . . A lovely piece. I am partial to side by sides. I sold an old AYA 12 gauge some time ago and regret it ever since. It also had long barreles and very tightly choked. A shotgun like this would be fun in Argentina for those high flying birds.... "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt | |||
