Hi,
I looked at one of these Berettas this weekend along with some of their other semi-autos. I thought they had extremely nice wood for the money...I flipped one over though and there is a faint line that runs down the middle.
Do these things have some kind of fake finish on them? It seemed like it to me, and you never know with all the photographic finishes they have today.
--I suppose I could have pulled out my gerber and carved a chunk out, but I didn't want to buy a shotty with a bad stock.

Some of the Beretta's come outfitted with Xtra-wood. Laminated picture of good wood glued onto the stock. Whatever floats your boat. HTH, Dutch.

Dutch,
Yes, I think that's what it was. There was a stamp on the stock if I remember right and I think it did say x-tra wood.
It had me fooled.

Not a bad idea, but I bet it would look terrible if it was scratched and showed what was underneath.
If synthetic stocks on rifles did this and had a nice protective coating I think they'd sell tons to people who like wood, hate the look of synthetic, but don't want to pay $1000 for premium grade stuff--people like me!
