I was reading about this in their catalog and also had a chance to play with a few at the stores and was wondering if this is really wood or is it a wood substitute of some sort? Also, any word on how well they hold up and resist scratches? Thanks.

Yep.. That beretta extra wood gun is somekind of fake laminate print stuck on over the wood, or a "decal". I wouldnt own one!

I'd own one, if it was substantially cheaper.

You could take it chukar hunting, and not give a rats cheeks if it fell down the rockslide and got all scratched up.......

It feels better than synthetic, which is the only good thing I can say about it. Other than I would have a perverse pleasure in seeing it scratched up... FWIW, Dutch.

Life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

Scott, it is a process where the fancy wood grain is overlayed onto a standard wood stock, and it is more durable than any Browning, Remington or Winchester that I have owned. I have owned a Teknys for 2 years and not a ding or a scrath on it. thumb
