Picked up the first shotgun I ever shot this past week. It's an old ithaca 37, that my uncle let me use for m first couple years until I got my own. He past away and left me that shotgun. Where's the serial # on this thing?. My other 37's have them on the receiver and barrel; but this one has nothing. It does have a number stamped onto the face of the receiver where the barrel meets the receiver face. Would this be it. thanks turfman I don't approve of political jokes...I've seen way too many of them get elected!

If its an older one, look on the receiver, but not on the side like the newer ones. Look on the receiver front where the barrel connects. Older ones often had the barrel with the same number as the action. You may have to take the barrel off to inspect it to find it. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum

Thanks; I thought that was where it was. I was however skeptical because it has a low 4 digit serial #. The # is 27xx; any idea if it could have been first year production. turfman I don't approve of political jokes...I've seen way too many of them get elected!

I dont have my list handy, but I have one serial # 123XX that was made in 1939. I would almost bet yours is 1937. Can you post a pic. thanks Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
