Gentlemen:

In your experience what is the best choke for buckshot and what is the best choke for slugs if they are different? I will at times use buckshot and slugs together, therefore what is the best compromise? My barrel is a smooth bore.

Best wishes for the New Year.

I would go with a MOD.choke when useing both. But would use a FULL.choke when useing buckshot by its self.

Ideally, the barrel for a rifled slug isn't choked at all. With a full choke, you may lose accuracy with some brands. With a modified and up, you probably won't be able to tell the difference from an unchoked barrel. You'd probably be served best with a modified choke and finding a buckshot load that patterns tightly.
