Which would be the best choice for a duck gun? Do they both have an inertia system?

The Franchi is about $600 less but a friend has the M2 and he swears by it.

Thanks cutiger. I am tending to go that way.

I went to a local Bass Pro yesterday and the M2 definately feels better to me. I think the forearm is thinner.

However the Franchi I was comparing it to was a 3 1/2" and that may account for part of it.

I have not shot that specific Franchi. But I have owned and still own several Benellis. And I have one Franchi and have shot others.
In my view, Benelli is a far better gun.
You have to decide the value you are willing to pay.
If I were choosing here, do it right the first time, Benelli all the way.

The Franchi appears to be just the Italian made version of the the Turkish made Stoeger. The Benelli as the Beretta is a different animal.

Not sure if you have bought one already..but if not, give the Browning Maxus a look. I have a Benelli Super Vinci and a Beretta A400 Xtreme. The Browning Maxus is what I grab almost every time.

If your set on those two pick the Benelli.

I don't think there is any doubt the Benelli is the better between those two.

I had an M2 and it took me a while to find where it shot. I eventually traded it and a SBE for a couple of Beretta's.

But recently I have been back looking at some Benelli's. I think the Cordoba is the best in their line now, or its identical twin in different colors the Supersport. One thing I don't like about either is the ported barrel. And the Cordoba price is up there too.

I haven't got out to shoot either one somewhere where they have them though.

The M2 is a solid gun too though.

The best is to find a place that will let you shoot the guns. Both a decent shotguns and if by chance you shoot the Franchi better, $600 buys a lot of ammo.
