Looking at the Beretta Silver Pigeon IV or V in 20ga for general use. What is the comparable Guerini offering? Which is of better quality, and more durable?

I've not shot the Beretta but the few Guerini's I've handled and shot were very impressive and I like the availability of longer barrels.

I forget which of the Guerini's is closest to the Beretta you're talking about (the Summit, maybe?), but if it was a choice between Beretta and CG, I would have to go with CG. I think the triggers are a little better on them and they fit me better. I also like the way they move to the target better, too. The last 2 things are personal, so you'll have to try them out for yourself, but it'll be a fun task, at least!
