I've got one of these coming and wanted to see if any of you all have/had experience with these shotguns. It is a 4.75lb 20ga with 25" Mod vent rib bbl, straight English stock based on an aluminum Model 37 receiver. Of course the weight is the big draw for me and I expect it will make an awesome grouse gun (and chukars too if I get out west). I can't think of a worse gun to pass shoot with, but for carrying and snap shots it should be slick. I love SxSs, but there is something to be said for a cheap lightweight gun I won't mind thrashing in the woods. Apparently they're relatively scarce and were made in the early 80s before Ithaca moved to Kings Ferry. The nomenclature is confusing, but there was a later run called the Ulralite with 3" chambers and choke tubed. These features don't appeal to me, especially as the gun got beefed up as a result.

Just for informational purposes, the original Ithaca gun company went out of business years ago, an investment group bought the rights to produce only the M37. I had a problem with an original Ithaca barrel which was new in the box and carried the life time guarantee for defects in workmanship which this barrel had. I kept contacting what I thought was the Ithaca gun company with respect to the warranty and after many attempts threaten to go to the attorney of the state, that is when I received a letter telling me that the investment group as part of their purchase of the rights to manufacture the M37 bore no liability to the real Ithaca gun company or any liability for outstanding warranties. I personally find it reprehensible for a company that went out of business to sell its name without the purchasing party accepting liability for its outstanding warranty, they should not be allowed to use their name. I have one of those guns. It's a full choke, but super light and handles pretty well. Years ago I got it for my wife as she's a lefty while I shoot right handed. I thought this design would work well as an ambidexterous gun. It functions well, but it doesn't fit me very well so I haven't shot it for many years. It sure is fun to carry though being so light.
