They will kick your fillings loose if you go with the 3.5" monsters.

I have a BPS 10 and love the gun. First you have to realise that the 10 ga. is built for 1.75 ounce (steel) and 2.25 ounce (lead) loads and it weighs almost 11 pounds, and I find the kick about equal to my 12 ga. BPS with 3 inch loads.
All 12 ga. 3.5 inch guns are built on smaller & lighter 12 ga. frames and will kick the piss out of you.
Comparison wise, 10 ga. 1.75 oz (steel) and 2.25 oz (lead) vs. 12 ga 3.5 inch 1 9/16 oz (steel) and 2 to 2.25 oz (lead).
Rule of thumb says that when you have the same size shot charge, the larger bore will have a better pattern and the smaller bore will have a longer shot string.
My 10 ga is absolutely devastating on geese with Remington BBB steel loads. Unfortunately, Remington does not load their heavishot ammo line to the full potential of a 10 gauge, namely a 2.25 oz load.

I have both the BPS 3" 12 and a Stalker 10 gauge. The 10 isn't near as bad to shoot as some claim. I have shot several rounds of trap with it just for fun. I reload for it and loaded enough for a whole squad to shoot our 10's once a year. Fun to see the 3' of flame shoot our at night. Like DAVEC said, the 10 is great for geese and turkey's. Does exactly what it's supposed to, big payload and lots of energy. I usually take it duck hunting as well.

I agree with Dave & Shane. The 10 BPS is a little on the heavy side but felt recoil is less than the light 12 ga 3 1/2 inch guns.I've never cared for factory loads but with good handloads you can turn a 10 ga into a real goose killing machine! There is no comparison in the patterns the 10 ga will shoot with the larger sized shot. The 12's can't compete.
