Guys,

Was duck hunting yesterday. My cheap 12 ga. 3" Remington 870 cycled properly on first two rounds (on different birds).

On third bird, the gun did not feed and appears to have the left side (looking at the bottom) magazine spring out of alignment to the extent that it is blocking the removal of the last round in the magazine and blocking the insertion of another round.

What is the fix? Is this common for the 870 or do I just have a dud?

Did you have it apart was it new when you brought it. Take the barrel mag cap off take the mag spring retainer out pull the spring and see if the mag follower was put in backwards. May be there is no mag follower I find 870's some of the most reliaible shot guns out there. let be know what you find i'll try and help some more off to work.
